October 6th, 2010: Ghedalia Tazartes / Trophies

@instants chavirés

I guess Trophies just isn’t my kind of thing. I really don’t like Bosetti’s voice, a personal issue I couldn’t overcome. The guitar was following the voice too closely for my taste, and even though I like what Tony Buck does more often than not, this time was in the latter category. Maybe because I didn’t like the rest, so I couldn’t see the point. My bad, I guess.

The next set was quite different, as I like Ghedalia Tazartes’ voice a lot, and what he does with it even more. He didn’t seem to be at his best though. It still was a nice set, but I had the feeling it could have been better, so I guess I need to go hear him again. The loops sounded a bit out of place at first, but it turned out to make sense through the contrast they provided. Then again, I think the canned accompaniment puts limits on how good such a performance can get. It’s just better with live musicians, in my opinion. Good set, but I was kinda expecting greatness.
